Strategies for Playing Craps

Here are some winning strategies for playing craps.

Craps is one of those games that you see al of on television and movies. Men get beautiful women to blow on their dice for luck, and strangers stand by to cheer them on. How can you have your movie moment playing craps? The best thing to do is to follow the right strategies to increase your chance of winning. It is not like playing poker online, or other games when you compete against others. Craps is a game of chance, but there are still things you can do to better the odds against the house.

Craps already starts with a low house edge, meaning the chances of winning are better than with a lot of other games. In fact, the house edge for craps is comparatively very low. You can make that edge even lower with the right strategy.

The most advantageous bets you can make in craps are the Pass or Don’t Pass bets and the Come or Don’t Come bets. The house edge on these bets is approximately 1.5%. If you have odds then that advantage can lower even more. Other than those bets, you can also go with place 6 or 8, or field 2 or 12. They also have good odds, but not as good as the pass/don’t pass and come/don’t come bets.

The rest of the table does not provide very advantageous betting opportunities. In fact, some of them are complete suckers bets. Hard-way 4 and hard-way 10 bets favor the house by a whopping 11%. Sure, you might win big, but the odds of you winning are smaller, and you can lose big, too.

Too many people are looking for the big score, when making money at the casino is about patience and making the right bets at the right time. The pass line bet is possibly the best bet you can make at the craps table. The house edge is 1.41%. You can only lose if the shooter rolls 2, 3, or 12. That means any other combination is a winner. By sticking with the higher odds, then you are more likely to come away in the black.

Another way to help be successful at craps is with betting strategies. Progressive strategies are very popular, as they offer a way for players to mitigate their risk and have a way to win back their losses if need be. These strategies can work for craps and roulette, but not so much for things like poker online.
